When do you put up the Christmas tree?

I have a confession to make, our tree went up the weekend before last. I know, I know, it was a little early but I couldn't wait. As a kid we had to wait until after Mum and Dad's wedding anniversary (2nd December, this year was their 40th!!) to put up the tree. The wait was always excruciating, especially since the Adelaide Christmas Pageant is at the beginning of November, signaling the start to the Christmas season.

When do you put up your Christmas tree? Do you have a tree? Sarah over on Reverie blog started off their Advent calendar with putting up the Christmas tree & I think this might be something we adopt in future years too. Another good idea came from Nick's mum. The first Christmas that he was old enough to really appreciate Christmas, she put up the tree after he had gone to bed Christmas Eve, so Christmas morning was a double surprise of great tree and presents! He loved it. I think this also cuts out a month of telling off a toddler for messing with the tree. Next year this will be the way we roll.

  1. growing up we couldn't do anything christmas related until december 6th, as my dad's birthday was december 5th. now that i no longer live in that home we start christmas festivities on the first of december w our advent calendar. our first day will always involve decorating the house! i am not sure i could handle christmas stuff any earlier than that. here in the states we are bombarded EVERYWHERE starting the beginning of november by the "christmas season"

  2. It's so neat to me that everyone puts their tree up at different times. We always did ours the day after, or very shortly after, Thanksgiving. =]

  3. I think it's so neat to read about how everyone celebrates the holiday. Growing up, our tree went up the day after Thanksgiving and everything stayed up until Three Kings Day (January 6th). Somewhere along the way though we didn't like the idea that we were bringing the old into the new year. So we started taking everything down a few days after Christmas.

P.S. Just stumbled onto your blog - cute! :)
